I love lists like this. These are the books I've read:
All the King's Men, An American Tragedy, Animal Farm, BRIDESHEAD REVISITED! (one of my top fave books of all time), The Catcher in the Rye, (does the movie of Clockwork Orange count?), The Death of the Heart, The French Lieutenant's Woman, The Golden Notebook, Gone With the Wind, The Grapes of Wrath, THE GREAT GATSBY! (also one of my top faves), The Heart of the Matter, Light in August (Faulkner may be the second best writer I've ever read, after Virginia Woolf), The Moviegoer, MRS. DALLOWAY (one of top faves), The Sound and the Fury, THE SUN ALSO RISES (one of top faves), To Kill A Mockingbird, To The Lighthouse, Tropic of Cancer, Under the Net.

I've read about sixteen of them, including Animal Farm and 1984 - recommend both of them very highly.
