I'm not quite sure what happened to March.
It's half over, and I've hardly read one book.
So I apologize to Trish, Melissa, JoAnn and others who were reading Vanity Fair with a final wrap up post due today. If I tell you that you further inspired me to read it can I bring myself back into grace?
Because Naxos Audio Books sent me the audio version of the novel, and I will be listening to it in the car on the way to work. It is read by "Georgina Sutton (who) trained at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. She has toured extensively to repertory theatres around the UK in plays and musicals and has appeared in numerous pantomimes. Film credits include The Gallery (Channel 4) and the presentation and voiceover for 3G Mobile documentary. Audio work includes various commercials for Classic FM and recording course and instruction manuals as learning tools. Georgina is a regular voice for Marks & Spencer and Waitrose."
Therefore, I beg forgiveness while assuring you that I will partake in the discussion.
Just probably a month later than all of you.
(Listen to a sample of the recording here.)

Vanity Fair is one book I could never get into, so I understand if life got in the way of you reading this book :) Hope you enjoy the audio version of it!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, with a longer book, I think an audio version might be just the ticket. Especially when there is nothing else to do on those annoying drives to work.
DeleteOh, Bellezza, no need to apologize! Life somehow has a way of interfering with the best-laid plans. And besides, our reading should be a no-pressure pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI finally finished Vanity Fair yesterday, but will probably not get a wrap-up post written until tomorrow. I'll look forward to comparing notes in a month or so.
Thanks, Jo Ann, for understanding. I'm not sure how I am still in the final third of Picoult's House Rules when I meant to be done with that weeks ago!
DeleteI know how hard it is to complete a read-along, esp. for a long book. As for me, I just posted the Bonhoeffer bio wrap-up, so now it's all clear for the Proust. Glad you're reading it with me. I'll put a beginning post up next week, maybe there are those who'd like to join us too. We have a month to do half of it, so I think it's doable, right? Even though I've started Suite Française and In the Garden of Beasts, two Bonhoeffer ripple effects. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, Arti, as much as I enjoyed Bonhoeffer's book is how much I disliked In The Garden of Beasts. That novel was dry, dry, dry to me and had nothing whatsoever about WWII that I didn't already know. I hope you fare better with it.
DeleteAs to Swann's Way, I'm so looking forward to it! I know that Tuesday silhouette wants to join us as well.
Good luck! I'm afraid the audio would put me to sleep. :(
ReplyDeleteWell, there is that about an audio with an excellent narrator. Something about listening to a lovely voice is indeed soporific.
DeleteMust read Vanity Fair. It's been on my tbr list forever and whenever I pick it up it just looks so big I put it down again!
