Adieu to Once Upon A Time 6

Carl wishes to say, "Farwell" in the title of his post. I admonished him to say something more like, "Until we meet again." Because surely he 'must' host an Once Upon A Time Challenge 7 for next summer! There has to be something to tide us over between Readers Imbibing Peril challenges!

I didn't watch films. I didn't play games (unless you count listening to my son move through Skyrim). But, I did read several books:

~Baltasar and Blimunda by Jose Saramago (Sadly, I didn't finish.)

~The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey (Loved it! But it's best read in the winter.)

~The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis (The Narnia Chronicles are new every time I read them, which is usually every other year or so. The children in my class never fail to love this one.)

~The Last Battle by C. S. Lewis (Never have I drawn such comparisons between the characters in the book and our current Presidential administration as I have this time around.)

~Mariana by Susanna Kearsley (This was a fun time-travel/romance read.)

Much as I enjoy this challenge, and I do, I'm still greatly anticipating the RIP to come September 1, 2012.

And so, we bid adieu. For this year anyway.

  1. Congratulations on a job well done!

  2. Well, I'd say you had a more successful Once Upon a Time than I did! I'm finding myself looking forward to R.I.P. now that I keep seeing so much mention of it. So much for no more commitments...

  3. You drew parallels between Lewis' writing and the current administration? That's interesting. I've never thought about it that way before.

  4. Melanie, read the link of my post reviewing The Last Battle and tell me what you think. It struck me so forcibly this time through the Narnia chronicles how we are being "hoodwinked" at every turn. Under the guise of goodness.

  5. I so loved The Snow Child too!!! Will definitely be a favorie of the year for me. And I'm totally with you :p Carl will most CERTAINLY have to host a OUaT 7 :p We'll see to it that he does!

  6. Sometimes I can hardly believe that Carl will be looking at the RIP 7, and next year will (probably) be the JLC7. What the heck, how long have we been doing this?! It's good to be friends!
