I stepped outside to see how much snow had fallen in the night and found mysterious tracks adjacent to my reading child statue (left). I loved how they were caught in the snow, just my reader and some scurrying creature who passed her in the night.
(Also, the bella donna is back in my header. I missed her far too much to replace her afterall.)
You can find more Saturday Snapshots at home with books.
How cute are those little prints! I wonder what animal made them?
ReplyDeleteTrish, I wish my knowledge of wildlife was as vast as my knowledge of literature. Well, maybe not "vast", but certainly better versed than in tracking! Perhaps a squirrel? Perhaps a chipmunk? Who knows; we live across from a river and see all manner of animals from deer to beaver to the expected smaller ones...
Deletealways was my favourite header, love the look of pristine snow.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Parrish. I just didn't feel right withour her looking at me whenever I opened my blog.
DeleteThe pristine snow is a gift; a reminder of the new heaven and the new earth which I hope to come.
lovely picture! and a beautiful reminder!!
DeleteSara, trust you to get my reference! XO
DeleteLovely! The photo and the header. Sorry I have been awol lately but still up for some February James together if you are?
ReplyDeleteFirst, no need to apologize ever! Secondly, yes! Let's read The Wings of The Dove on our own time in February and post a review at the end of the month. I don't want to cause anyone to feel any more pressure than they might already be feeling, plus literature and blogs are to enjoy are they not? :)
DeleteYou're on! Have not read this book for 20 years. Excited to revisit.
DeleteSo glad, Frances. I've not read it even once yet, so I'm excited about my first foray into Henry James.
DeleteThat photo is so cute! Yes, I would expect a squirrel or a chipmunk. Are they small enough to be a mouse? Margaret has mice on her photo today. And, is it just me or is Alyce's site down. It was up earlier but not now. Hope she's not having troubles with her new server. Hope I'm not having troubles. LOL
ReplyDeleteDo you like the threaded comments? I'm thinking about it, but you have to use embedded comments and that new dashboard thing, that I don't like. Decisions, decisions.
Kay, I had all kinds of trouble with Alyce's site today. I tried three times to leave a comment, but eventually gave up.
DeleteI suppose those tracks could be a mouse. As far as I know, they could be anything short of a bear. ;)
I do like the threaded comments, but I know that my WordPress friends always 'complain' about the difficulty they have leaving comments on Blogger. It doesn't seem to matter whether they're embedded, or full page, or whateer, it's just not as easy as on WP. So, given that it's a challenge no matter what, I'm going with the new threads. So to speak.
I'm so sorry that the site was giving people issues!
DeleteMy husband said it was good to go with the posts, but what he didn't explain to me until today was that it can take a few days for propagation. My basic understanding of it is that it takes time for all of the right connections to be made to the new server so that everyone can have access to it. I had no clue that this would be an issue, but it should all be up and running bug-free within a couple of days.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteGreat snapshot! Maybe a cat came to visit. Have a great day!

Love those little foot prints!! Wonder what it was? I love seeing snow in photos!!
ReplyDeleteHere's Mine
Not saying anything new that hasn't already been said, but ... lovely header, beautiful photo (love the way the snow gently undulates because of the plants underneath), and I'm guessing those are squirrel prints. We have squirrels here, but I see footprints in mud instead of snow :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, where does the bella donna photo come from? I love looking at it!
It's a photo I find while looking for pictures of reading women. It was taken by Nina Leen, who was one of the first female photographers for LIFE magazine. She has absolutely wonderful black and white photographs of life in America during the 40s and 50s. Somehow, it just speaks to me, and I'm glad that it does the same for so many other readers like you.
DeleteYes, indeed - I'll vote for squirrel prints, too. And you never can post too many snow pictures for me. It's just so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think we were breaking high temperature records yesterday and I was pondering whether to turn on the AC. This just isn't good! We need cold weather and rain!
Lovely snapshot! It's looking somewhat like that in my area as well today. I hate having to go out in it, but there is something so serene about the snow.
ReplyDelete(By the way, I've been having so much trouble at various Blogger sites recently that I've caved and created a Blogger profile. (So you know why I have yet another 'look' in the comments.) Honestly, I probably would have done so earlier if I'd realized I could create a profile without adding yet another password to remember!)
My guess was some kind of small animal like a squirrel. Those little paw prints are so cute!
ReplyDeleteAgain, my apologies for the access problems that some have been experiencing with my site today. We started the move to the new server on Tuesday and I was finally able to make new posts last night. I hadn't realized that it would take an additional day or two for the propagation - so that everyone around the world would have access to the site. I'm going to go add an update to my post now so that people know what's going on.
A new header?! ;) I love that gal. She brings to mind a character from a novel I just finished reading (Frankie in The Postmistress). I'm not sure why since there was never any mention of her lying about reading.
ReplyDeleteI have tracks like yours in the snow on our driveway. It's either a squirrel or a rabbit. Yes. We have very hardy rabbits in Nebraska. They're out taunting my poor dog when it's a bitter 13 degrees!!
great picture, love those tracks, but I am curious as to what little critter made them... Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteLove those tiny critter tracks. We are having snow today and see some tiny prints on the deck. I love Bella Donna as well (she just belongs there.)
ReplyDeleteBTW...thank you so much for the sweet and sincere comment about today's photo; HUGS
Great picture! We had so much snow I had to shovel. I could have done without that experience.
ReplyDeleteHa! I've got some paw prints like that outside my window this morning, too. There is so much life that goes on around us, even in the winter.
ReplyDeleteThey're cute little prints!! That's good. I found some great big prints in some snow and hoped they just melted large from the cat. (please!!!)
ReplyDeleteI love those little tracks and hope whatever made them stayed warm.
ReplyDeleteOne of the few things I like about the snow is seeing all the animal tracks and trying to figure out just what was wandering around in my yard.
ReplyDeleteThe little tracks are quite wondrous! Mouse? Squirrel? Bird?
ReplyDeleteI, too, wish them a warm bed and a full tummy!
Oh, I really like this. Wonder what made them.
ReplyDeleteI looove the tracks! What a great morning surprise.
ReplyDeleteYour Saturday snapshot is a natural wonder. Snow, we've got tons, but tiny tracks like these, just mesmerizing!
ReplyDeleteWe have fresh snow in my area. I love looking at the tracks and trying to figure out who made them. Lots of rabbit and squirrel tracks :)
ReplyDeleteSome creatures let you know they visited even for a brief period of time. Nice capture of the snow prints.
ReplyDeleteI've not finish Pictures from Italy yet.
Cold!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday
Snapshot post!
We've got lots of critters in and around our yard, too. It's fun to try to identify them by their prints. Very nice shot!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. I'd be peering out looking for the trackmaker all the time after that.
ReplyDeleteOne more addition for Japanese culture but not literature-Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji , series of large, color woodblock prints by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. One of the woodblock prints one often sees is-The Great Wave off Kanagawa. (see in Google)
ReplyDeleteI realize this is not part of Japanese literature.
What a cute photo. I love fresh snow.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're header's back. I've always liked it.
