Yesterday, one of my teammates and I showed our classes A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Very soon into the opening Sally is exclaiming, "I haven't even eaten all of my Halloween candy yet!"
Only too bad for Sally, because if she was in our town around Thanksgiving? She'd be looking at Christmas decorations.
So, this Wednesday I'm listening to the still, small voice which says, "Be thankful. Be quiet. Take nothing for granted. Rest in each moment with your family, remember each blessing."
And this is the verse I'm holding in my heart: 1 Chronicles 29:13

This morning I'm listening to some mellow stuff that I loved for quite awhile Martin Stephenson and the Daintees, I've gone a step further & chosen for you, one of my favourite tracks from a favourite album.

I'm listening to Susie Orbach... the link is on the blog :)
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to Rachid Taha and Patrick Hawes alternately... two of my favourite music artists.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you all. I don't celebrate it being British - but I love hearing about all the festivities - and pecan pies from my american friends online.
Parrish, what a wonderful song! Not only do I love that you chose it for me, but I love the jazzy, light, breeziness of it that just soothes me and makes me happy at the same time. Thanks so much for enriching my blog with your ideas as well as I life.
ReplyDeleteAlly, I'm listening to the psychologist now as I type this comment (Oh, how I wish I had easy access to BBC radio!). She is so very wise, and the part which interests me most about what she has to say is not so much about change as the idea of persuing perfection. It's a concept I often wrestle with, and I'm fascinated by her speech. I plan on sharing it with my mother today as we cook for tomorrow's feast, and as I did to Parrish above, I thank you for the enrichment you provide to my life...with the Venice challenge, the books, and these fine ideas.
ReplyDeleteFiona, the two artists you mentioned are new to me; I'll have to look them up.
ReplyDeleteAs to pecan pie, it's yummy for sure, but there are so many delectable things to prepare and indulge in this weekend. (And many to come!) I particularly love cranberry and ginger things, not necessary together, but cranberry scones? Gingerbread? So great!
Christmas music, as I have been for the past week! I know, too early, total "sap"-fest...however, sappy happens to be my middle name and I love the music of this time of the year! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeletePecan pie is of special interest to me as I have never had one. I must make one, one day - I love pecan nuts and I love pies.
ReplyDeleteI linked to it on my blog but here is one of my favourites of Patrick Hawes...

I just love Patrick Hawes.
Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving. Your Venice challenge looks enticing, but I am still making my list of Japanese novels ( a stack of them on the bookshelf). Now Venice in February? On the plus side: the prettiest, most gorgeous button ever.
ReplyDeleteMy family and I are counting down until Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving comes on TV tomorrow. Right now I'm listening to Jill Scott's "When I Wake Up". It's a song that's keeping me going right now.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Meredith to you and yours :)
ReplyDeleteToday I bought "THE DAYS OF ABANDONMENT" by Elena Ferrante
Looking forward to reading this novel you liked
The perfect verse for the kick off of the crazy holiday season. I'm going to hold this verse in my heart, remember the real reason for the season, and try not to drive myself nuts with all of the commercial aspects of the upcoming Christmas holidays!
