The work week is done.
The house is clean.
The parties from Saturday night are over.
The roses are blooming.
The book into which I'm currently enmeshed is waiting: The Talented Mr. Ripley. If you haven't yet read it, stop. Go, get yourself a copy. Then you'll know what I mean.
Sounds like you are having a perfect Sunday afternoon. I plan on curling up with a book soon too. I may even make some cookies or homemade bread.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I'm a big Highsmith fan and I think the Ripley books are just the icing on the cake. You might really enjoy her other works too. Happy peaceful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteWe loved the movie Talented Mr. Ripley and have watched it several times.
ReplyDeleteSounds like u r having the perfect day!
I hate the dreaded feeling of Monday morning, but, it's only on jumping on everyone's blogs and reading that I am reminded of why Sunday can be fabulous! I do mean to read The Talented Mr. Ripley sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteYour Sunday sounds blissful...
ReplyDeleteI, too, love Sundays. My house was clean because we had a party on Friday night and I had it all clean by Friday afternoon. I didn't get to read as much as I would've liked today, but I wrote two reviews and caught up on all my favorite blogs. Even went for an hour-long walk in the park earlier this morning. Oooh, there's still time to read. 'Night! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Are those roses from your garden?!?!
Nope, they're from Costco's garden. Where things flourish and grow as opposed to mine. I can't even keep the succulents my mother planted for my desk at school alive.
ReplyDeleteI loved your review on The Girl Who Played With Fire! So, it's lucky for me you got caught up on your reviews.
P.S.S.
ReplyDeleteLoved the film version of The Talented Mr. Ripley. What a cast! Philip Seymour Hoffman, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett...ok, I'm off to add it to my queue. It's been several years since we watched it. Definitely due for another viewing.
P.S.S.S.
We have a boat very similar to yours in our living room!
We don't have a Costco in Lincoln. However, Trader Joe's is opening this fall!! Not sure if they have flowers, but they have yummy wine & cheese. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed my review. Next up, Loving Frank by Nancy Horan.
We have a Trader Joe's across the street. YUMMY chocolate, French butter, Greek yogurt, and honeycrisp apples when in season. My husband likes their wine, but I go for the Italian soda.
ReplyDeleteLoving Frank was shocking to me! We went through the Frank Lloyd Wright museum in Oak Park, IL where he lived, as a book club, and I kept trying to get the curators to admit about his affairs and they never would. It was hilarious!
Now I want to rent the movie Talented Mr. Ripley!
I love both the book and the movie- haven't read all of the series, some are still waiting to be read. Mr Ripley needs to be savoured!
ReplyDeleteOne of the very few films that meet the high standards set by an outstanding novel. Jude Law's rendition of the song Americano is memorable.
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie and have been wanting to read the book for ages. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteYou always take such beautiful pictures, it makes me want to live in your house or hire you to decorate mine. Okay, that might sound a little creepy and it isn't intended in that manner.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Talented Mr. Ripley yet. I guess I have to add it to my wishlist?
Hope you enjoyed every moment of your Sunday afternoon. What an inviting picture!
ReplyDeleteI would love to tour the FLW museum. Definitely need to plan a trip to Chicago/Oak Park!
ReplyDeleteAh what a wonderful way to wrap up the weekend. How is Mr. Ripley coming along? Did you finish it?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it was perfect after all the work of the week. Lovely roses!
ReplyDeleteHope the Sunday afternoon bliss carried right through Monday...
ReplyDeleteI hope your week is just as great as your Sunday afternoon was.
ReplyDeleteI've read both the book and the screenplay. Definitely gripping! I've never seen the movie, though. Bellezza, did you know I have two kitties, again?
ReplyDeleteRoses, reading and a complete sense of achievement - I too love Sundays (and roster days off). Do you listen to music when you read? I can imagine a little classical or opera playing in the background of that picture?
ReplyDeleteJust finished watching the film tonight...there was way more emphasis on a homosexual theme, and even on murder, in the movie than in the book. Still, I loved the music and most especially the scenes of Italy. It did not totally disappoint me, as the film usually does after the book.
