Friday Fill-Ins: The Night Before Halloween

IMG_2448

1. "It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness." by Edward Bulwer-Lytton

2. My fine at the library was huge so I offered to take the books from Borders instead of their shelves.

3. Rushing out, before the vampires rushed in.

4. While watching an Alfred Hitchcock film, like Rear Window,...I think I heard a howl!

5. Shhhh...don't wake the monster under your bed!

6. Don't give me something good to eat! I'll eat it all!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to a Halloween party at The House of Heller (our Art teacher's last name, who decorates her home with drop cloths, leaves from outside, and the only light is candles), tomorrow my plans include going to a Halloween party at our neighbor's and Sunday, I want to go to the last Halloween party at Misericordia for my husband's handicapped sister!

  5. It sounds like you're going to have a full weekend! We relaxed with dinner and a movie (at home) last night and have plans to go to a friend's tonight. Other than that, I hope to catch up on some housework. Didn't get any done last weekend. I had my nose in several books! :)

  6. Les, I'mi sitting in my robe right now getting ready to face the same task: housework! I didn't get any done last week, either, and while it was refreshing to read all Saturday, or most of it anyway, I now have to pay the Piper.

You would have loved the house I was at last night: all over the hardword floor, the hostess had strewn oak leaves from her yard. The furniture was draped with black sheets, and the only lights illuminating the party were candles. It was so gorgeous. She even had black crows perched on the banisters, the mantels, in the chandeliers. I'm not much of a Halloween person, but it was really beautiful. I pity her cleaning up this morning!

Have a good Halloween, my friend.

  7. I'm still in my bathrobe, too! It's after 11 am and I really need to get a move on. Rod's playing tennis (it's a whopping 43 degrees!) and will be home shortly.

I'm not much of a Halloween person, either! Your friend's house sounds lovely, though. Speaking of leaves, I guess that's another chore to add to the list. We need to do some serious raking now that it's stopped raining. Think I can put it off for another day??
