The JLC3 Prize for August 30

IMG_2332-3

Going back to school always makes me think of school supplies. You know, buying fresh notebooks. Unsharpened pencils. New erasers. So, what better prize for this month than some Japanese "school supplies"?

The winner will receive an unwrapped Moleskine notebook, labeled "Japanese Album". The pages fold out in an accordian style when opened:

Japanese album

Included in the deal are two square pencils made in Japan,

and four ever popular erasers in the shape of fast food (which I understand are hugely collectible):

How can you win this prize package? Simply visit three new-to-you blogs from the sidebar on the JLC3 review site, leave them a comment, and tell me you've done so below. The winner will be announced next Saturday.

As always, happy reading!

  2. As always, your prizes are a great deal of fun!

I visited Always Dream and posted on her post, a few down, that talked about the film Ponyo.

I visited Lacoohee Kid and posted on her summer post.

I visited Breathe Beautiful and posted on her bedtime stories post...a beautiful image and post.

Thanks for the opportunity to visit some fun new blogs...not an easy feat considering so many are also in my RIP Challenge so I've already been there over the last few days.

  3. Me, either! It's hard to keep up with everyone's beautiful blogs! I need to give up my full time job. ;)

  4. Carl, I can only imagine how full your plate is with your own challenge just off the ground. I didn't think you'd be the second person to comment here, that's for sure! I'm glad you liked the blogs you visited, and I know there's a plethora for us to visit on your fabulous RIP site!

  8. Hey, I just did some exploring. I'm comment shy, so I like things like this. I found something to say on:

    bookgirl's nightstand
    Life in the Thumb
    Temple Library Reviews

    Thanks!

  9. Scott, I'm not the best comment-leaver (is that a term?!) either, so I thought this would be a good way to spread some love. I'm glad you found something to say!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks, Susan. I know little girls love these things, too. All the girls in my class collect erasers until they almost drive me nuts!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Okay, I am so in on this one. I like collecting notebooks and my sister would love those erasers.

    I visited

    Magical Mystical Teacher
    su[shu]
    Dust and Spores

    on reviews for the challenge.

Great idea for a contest, though I hope to not add more blogs to my list. Too many already.

  12. So I did it :-)
I checked out A Fondness For Reading, Robin's blog, and commented on the Team Building post. Then I posted a comment on Absorbed In Words and commented on the review of Kenzaburo Oe's A Quiet Life. And then I stumbled upon Maggie Reads' post on Julie & Julia.
Thanks so much for this task! I will keep on reading those blogs (and found two more blogs while checking out those three!).

  13. I did it too! I visited Lesley's book nook, Tyme for Tea and A Fondness for Reading!!! Very fun to find some new blogs and new books!!!

Now I know the real reason that you stopped by my blog, Harry! :-)

  16. Hey all, these is so great to "see" some of my friends meeting one another! Now I can only wish for a big backyard gathering some day...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well that and the fact that your blog name is magical and mystical, how could I resist. The challenge for the contest acted a more immediate stimulus to visit. :D

    ReplyDelete
  18. I did visit 3 blogs new-to-me. I'm especially glad to find su[shu] because she seems to have the same reading taste as mine. I'm glad that you asked us to go around!

    ps: Great prizes as always!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh I hope so. It would be like the Mad Hatter's tea party with beautiful chaos and strange almost illogical conversation known only to us. Not to mention the books, bookmarks, shades of the trees and comfy armchairs. *sigh*

  20. Those are some fantastic prizes! I love school supplies - there is just something really fun about sharpening a brand new pencil, filling up white paper with writing and organizing it in a binder. And what a fun idea for a challenge! I visited:

    Nothing of Importance
    Cynical Optimism
    I'm So Not A Blogger

Thanks for helping me reach outside my virtual comfort zone.

    Emily (Faith Adeline Reviews)

    Darla (Books and other Thoughts)

    Helenity (A Reading Collection)

At least I am getting introduced to some new, great blogs. : )

I visited Sushu because we had read the same book (Sputnik Sweetheart) & I was curious; Paperback Reader (claire)for "The cat who walked a thousand miles" and the rec of "I am a cat"--I happen to love cats; and In spring it is the dawn because the book is fascinating: a Japanese Elizabeth Blackwell; Elizabeth Blackwell fascinated me as a kid. They are all new "faves" What a great way to introduce new blogs. Thank you!

  26. I would do this normally anyway! (Technically, I've probably already clicked on every blog you've listed - I'm always blog hunting =P)

    I posted on:
    Andrea's Book Nook
    Kiss a Cloud
    Third Storey Window...

all of which I've now added to my own bloglist hehe

  28. I looked and commented on three posts - Peek a Boo(k), In Spring it is the Dawn and Dust and Spores (love that blog name). Wish i had time to look at more today but I'm off home for a few days. And I've added a few of them to my google reader, which gets ever longer by the day!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't understand how it is that I always come across your posts so long after you've put them up! Must be my timing problem.

As fate would have it, I just went blog-hopping this morning, especially from the JLC Review site, and left quite a number of comments on several blogs which I've never been to before!

I left comments with Novroz, Harry, Lisa, Mee, and a few others I think. I'm loving your challenge, because it gives me this big pool of book blogs to explore!

And thanks so much for your lovely prizes and giveaways. =)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can't believe I did this again! I forgot to log out of my wordpress login, which links back to my other blog. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  31. Great prize pack you got here! Thanks!

I do have most of the blogs on my google reader. However I did manage to find three more to add!

I visited them and left comments on their blog:

Mark David of Absorbed In Words

    Colleen of Bookphilia

Terri B of Tip Of The Iceberg

Also added them to my reader.

  32. Hiya! This is a fab idea - checking out new blogs! It was cool to see other bloggers' sites and check out their reviews and discover new books. The three I checked out were:
    Madeleine's Book Blog
    Lost in Books
    A Reading Collection

I think I am going to start reading these blogs - thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cool prizes! I went to see The Amazing Adulthood of Alexis, Su (Shu) and You Gotta Read This....i'll probably be scrolling through some others later as i looooooove blog wandering!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Harry, you've created a wonderful vision in my mind! It would be one of the few parties where I would feel truly comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fuzzy Cricket, I feel the same way about sharpiening, filling, and organizing! Thanks for going outside of your virtual comfort zone. I tend to stay within mine all too often.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mee, I can see you and Michelle (su)shu getting along beautifully!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I like exploring other blogs, especially when I know we'll be discussing similar topics (Japanese books in specific). It's great to get different points of view, though, on books we've all read. I'm glad you had fun in your exploration, Suzanne.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rules are made to be broken!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh, I bet they're thrilled you "faved" them! Thanks for participating in the Open House of sorts. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Emily, there certainly are quite a few to peruse! New ones do bring a breath of fresh air, too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've just recently been converted into being a cat lover. It seems that Japanese people are all cat lovers! (Murakami, for one, has them continuously sprinkled throughout his novels as he says he's always liked them.) I'm so glad you were introduced to new blogs which especially appeal to you.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Good for you, Sharry! Too often, I need to urge myself to get out there and go visiting because it's not in my normal routine. I'm rarely disappointed, though, when I do. Your bloglist must be huge!

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's easy to get one's Google Reader into War and Peace, isn't it? I hope, if you're on vacation, that you're having a wonderful time!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I can see you and Magical Mystical Teacher getting along famously because you're both so well versed in haiku. I'll be sure to stop by tomorrow! It'll be the best part of my day because it's Curriculum Night which means many long hours at school.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Michelle, one day after I've put up the post does not a long time make. ;) If I get there in a week or so, I feel I'm up to speed! It sounds like you've left quite a few comments on your way; I like having the pool of blogs to explore from the review site. It's such a good turnout this year.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lots of people are getting added to Google Readers through this little exercise. I'm glad people are getting to know one another and finding blogs with which they especially connect.

    ReplyDelete
  47. For blog wanderers like you, this is an easy task then! I hope. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Nadia, I'm sure they'll be grateful for your connection. It is great to see one another's sites and to find new books. I also like finding reviews of books I've read, in order to hold a discussion. A mini-book club, if you will. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love visiting new blogs! Today I 'met':
    Michelle - su[shu]
    Tony - Tony's Reading List
    Lisa - Knitting Yarns
Haven't officially started my reading, but I'm enjoying this challenge already! Thanks, Bellezza.

  50. I stopped in at Moo's Place, Oh! Books...Paper...Real Life, and one other that I can't seem to refind--but whoever it was was blogging about their cat Max, and I enjoyed it. Oh Max's owner, come say "hi" to me please so I can find you again!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have recently perused (on top of the few blogs that I follow anyway):

    Tanabata
    Fuzzy Cricket
    Chasing Bawa

For their taste in books, their good reviews and their names ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. This is fun! I visited and left comments on these blogs:

    Michelle of Michelle's Reading Room
    Emily of Faith Adeline Reviews
Robin of A Fondness for Reading

It's great to discover these new-to-me blogs! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yes, it's THAT time of year! I still get the feeling even though I am long past my scholl years LOL.

Great idea to have us visit each other: I liked reading about everybody's plans. I've commented on the JLC posts of Green Road Books, Tip of the Iceberg and Thyme for Tea. Of course I couldn't stop at those three so I visited some others I didn't know yet as well -- and familiair ones ;)

    ReplyDelete
  54. What a fun giveaway! I had a great time stopping by vvb32reads, Cynical Optimism and Well-Read Reviews. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. That's a great idea for a competition. I've been trawling through several of he blogs listed, but have only left comments on Moo's Place, Katrina's Reads and A Bookish Way Of Life.
I think I've found some new blogs to follow :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes, you could spend many an hour visiting fabulous blogs from R.I.P. IV participants this year. I'm frankly overwhelmed (in a good, smile-inducing way) by the response. But heck, there is no way I'm missing out on a chance to win your fabulous prizes! Plus I really enjoyed the blogs I visited, so I'm already a winner no matter what the fickle hand of fate chooses. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  57. There's so much time left, JoAnn, for reading and more prizes! I'm glad you're enjoying it already, though.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tanabata's blog is such an especially significant wealth of information about Japan; she's an expert as she not only lives there, but reads so much Japanese literature. I'm glad you found those three, Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Gnoegnoe, of course, who could stop at three? This is such a great way to meet new friends, even for me!

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's fun to me, too. Are those poppets I see in your icon by chance?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Swati, that's great! They'll be glad, too, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm sure they were appreciative of your visit, Darla. I liked your post on the manga...I remember that you reading Fruits Basket was an impetus for me to pick up manga last year. At least, I think it was you. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Carl, that fickle hand...who knows where it will land? At least it has five more months to plunge into the basket for winners! I'm glad you enjoyed the blogs you visited; this seems to open doors which would be harder to find without the central place provided by Review Sites, n'est ce pas?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I may be late for the contest but still wanted to do this as it's a great chance to meet fellow book bloggers!

    I stopped by:
    Lisa's blog Knitting Yarns
    Helenita of A Reading Collection
    Mee of Books of Mee

    Thanks, Bellezza!

    ReplyDelete
  65. It's never too late, Iliana! Unless the winner's posted, of course... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  66. It was CJ, Meryl, at My Years of Reading Seriously.
